Ask Alfred Go WiFly - Let ADJ’s Wireless Fixtures Make Your Life Easier This Summer Undoubtedly, this is the summer to go wireless. Like me, you’ll probably have noticed the recent upwards trend in wireless... well… everything! We now live in a ‘wireless world’, and at ADJ we’re always striving to keep with the times. That’s why – with our Go Series and our WiFLY series – we’ve created two ranges of lighting solutions which fulfill all of your wireless needs. At ADJ, we’re busy moving light into the wireless age, and both the WiFly Series and Go Series are perfect for using over the summer. Everyone loves to party and celebrate during the warmest months of the year; weddings, holidays, beach parties, and festivals – it all happens. Of course, behind the scenes, you – the lighting designers, DJs, event organizers and installers – are sat there wondering how you’re going to make the magic happen. With the Go Series and WiFly Series we aimed to give you flexibility (fixtures you can move and rearrange), ease of use (less hassle, easier to setup, and easier to operate), and value for money (buy one wireless fixture and use it in multiple locations, rather than buying twice).
GO SERIES WiFLY SERIES One considerable problem, especially in outdoor situations, is connecting lighting and controllers in a safe and practical way. For the ultimate outdoor fixture, our WiFLY QA5 IP is an IP65 outdoor rated wash solution, again with built-in WiFly technology. This fixture offers the power of five 5-watt (RGBA) quad-LEDs and smooth color mixing capabilities - perfect for stage or wall washing. The IP rating also means the unit can be used safely outdoors – so even if that summer sunshine turns to gloomy storms, your fixture will continue to function and remain safe. I should point out here that some of our fixtures feature both built-in WiFLY and rechargeable batteries, for instance the WiFLY Par QA5, which has wireless DMX and a six hour battery life; cutting the need for any cables at all and ensuring that the unit will stay bright and powerful throughout even the longest periods of use. This type of fixture is perfect for creating smooth mixes of rich RGBA color with which to wash stages, walls, tents (marquees) or backyard parties, and, due to being totally wireless, it can be placed anywhere. This flexibility in positioning is a key advantage of going wireless. If you’re outdoors you can perhaps incorporate the lighting across a wider space, or place the units in places you would never have dreamed of before. If it’s an indoor event, then expand your horizons; positioning lights at the back of a hall or venue is no longer a problem, and with the wireless controllers – such as the WiFLY WLC16 – also available, you can control these extra lights from your position on the stage or in the lighting booth. Uplighting is a common additional extra which wedding DJs and event companies offer their clients, and many of the WiFly and Go pars can be utilized as to provide this service. One major annoyance for wedding DJs – as I’m sure we all know – is when your fixtures are all setup and then a venue manager or client asks you to move them or reposition them. Usually this means ripping up taped down wires and lots of unnecessary hassle, but with our wireless fixtures it really is just a case of pick them up and repositioning them. Taping down wires and running endless cables is something that applies across the board, however, and using wireless fixtures not only eradicates the need to do this, but also reduces setup and tear-down time significantly shortened. As you can see, the benefits of going wireless are numerous, and I know that this summer will be a big season for our WiFLY and Go ranges. I’m proud to say that we’ve managed to revolutionize powerful LED lighting fixtures and reliable DMX-controllers with all the benefits of wireless technology and battery-power, without forsaking the performance of the products. So there you go – make setting up and tearing down a breeze this summer and go wireless! |
