ADJ’s Vortex 1200 Combines Classic Moonflower with Modern 360 Motion for Explosive Results
At ADJ we love to see a new idea come to fruition. The moonflower is an effect long used in all corners of the industry and remains popular with users and audiences alike, which is why we felt you could benefit from a unique, updated version of such a classic.
We sought to achieve this goal by incorporating quad-color LED technology and a unique infinitely-rotating head, for a range of lightshow-enhancing effects. Offering a modern twist on one of the industry’s most prevalent effects, the Vortex 1200 gives you a more compact unit, as well as improved control through the fixture’s compatibility with our UC3 controllers – perfect for clubs, bars, and mobile entertainers.
With the Vortex 1200 we’ve created a powerful, LED moving-head moonflower effect that uses a 16-piece lens kit and twelve 10-watt quad-color (RGBW) LEDs to achieve a mesmerizing maelstrom of color. Perhaps the most unique aspect of the product is its infinite 360-degree lens rotation and exclusive clockwise/counter-clockwise mirror movement, which, combined with the quad-color LED-powered moonflower effect and a choice of color macros, results in an explosion of color and hundreds of beams of light.
This versatility in movement allows the fixture’s hypnotic shapes to move in and out, resulting in kaleidoscopic effects, as the traditional moonflower shape bursts open into vibrant atoms of pure lighting excitement. On top of this, with the capability to zoom and beam angles ranging from 5- 44-degrees, you can intensify the moonflower projections for a variety of uses across the dance-floor or around the room.
Always looking to offer you more bang for your buck, we’ve packed the Vortex 1200 full of extra features. Offering further lighting enhancement, you can activate the electronic strobe effect, as well as a random strobe effect mode which offers slow-to-fast random strobing. This incredible effect will then take your lightshow to another level when mounted on the moving yoke, allowing the colorful assault of beams to be pointed in any direction or even to move around. We’ve also incorporated a pan/tilt inverse mode into the fixture, so symmetrical highly-effective light shows can be easily triggered when multiple units are used in Master Slave mode. Whether you’re an amateur or a pro, this gives you an impressive color lightshow to work with, without dealing with the complexities of DMX-protocol.
We haven’t just thought about super-effective lighting effects though, we’ve thought about the practicality of the product too; bearing the needs of the mobile entertainer and the small club owner in mind. The Vortex 1200 is compact and easy-to-use; being only 1ft tall it’s easy to transport and mount as part of a mobile entertainment service or as a fixed unit in a club or small venue. The Vortex 1200 is also compatible with the UC3 family of controllers, which now include WiFly capabilities, offering super-user-friendly operation and giving you in-depth control over the varied aspects of this unique fixture – including total control over shutter speed and the unit’s speed of rotation.
With three operational modes to choose from – Sound Active, Show Mode, and DMX Controlled – you’ll never be stuck for creative options, and DMX mode gives you four possible channel modes (14, 15, 17, or 29). Furthermore, up to four Vortex 1200s at 120V (or eight at 230V) may be power daisy-chained together via the built-in PowerCon connectors, allowing incorporation of multiple fixtures into even the most extensive lightshow.
