Hey Brian! I’m often faced with this same question when engaging with customers state side at trade shows or on Facebook, “Dude, you guys are in Europe too?” In other words, that ADJ sells product into Europe. My answer is, “yes, of course! We sell worldwide!” ADJ began in 1985. We are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year. Even back when I started 21 years ago, we were always entertaining international customers and distributors. The power of the “American DJ” brand (now ADJ) has always been know for quality and reliability. So, when we established operations in Kerkrade, Netherlands back in 2000, it was easier for us to establish our customer base because our brand was known worldwide. We sell 90% of all the same things we do here in the U.S. as we do in Europe. There are always some niche products that sell better in some international markets that don’t fit the U.S. And, just like the U.S. operation, at ADJ Europe we have a dedicated sales staff, call center, repair department, Quality Control line, and so on. Fast forward to 2015, ADJ is a major worldwide player in the DJ, club and mid-level lighting industry. We have dealers and distributors across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. We even have an ADJ China division that sells to nightclubs and entertainment venues in the Republic of China. We have a substantial size booth each year at the Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt, Germany. Prolight + Sound has quickly become a massive world show for entertainment lighting and professional sound. It makes U.S. shows like NAMM and LDI very small. Traveling to Frankfurt for Prolight + Sound is always exciting. I get to see old friends from the ADJ Europe office, meet international industry people, eat a variety of food I wouldn’t normally eat (my favorites are the Milka chocolate and Currywurst), and I really enjoy taking photos around the city when I’m not on duty at the trade show. I’ve had the pleasure of representing ADJ at Prolight + Sound for 10 years. Each year I amazed at the global presence that ADJ has. This year I meet with a variety of international print and online publications from all over Europe. I also meet our South African and Moroccan distributers for the first time. It very humbling to see our continued growth in our Europe office. I’ve made some great friends at ADJ Europe over the years. We have the same “ADJ family” philosophy in our Europe office as we do here in the states. To watch these friends mature and grow in their jobs, get married and have children is great to be part of. I hope to make it back to Prolight + Sound next year and for years to come. |
