ADJ Lighting Provides the Experience for International Open House When family-owned German company Hunter International opened their brand new 250,000 sq. ft. factory and headquarters they invited customers from across the globe to attend its official opening. With guests traveling from as far away as California and Dubai to attend the party, the Hunter Team knew they needed to put on a real show. For this they turned to Anthony Woodruffe of DJ and event production company WooDz:Muzik who created a unique party space using trussing, a Void Acoustics sound system, an impressive laser show and, of course, ADJ lighting. Having working in the event business since 2008, Anthony started his own company in 2009. As a wedding DJ he has built up a solid business through referrals and now plays in towns and cities all around Germany. In addition to this he is also regularly booked by bands to continue creating energy in the room after their set is finished, often carrying on the party until 4 or 5am the next morning. Finally, a growing area of WooDz:Muzik’s business is corporate events, where Anthony is responsible for creating a complete concept and pulling together everything from music and lighting to décor, furniture and even catering. Attended by around 100 clients, including many overseas visitors, the Hunter International factory launch included a tour of the new premises, a presentation of the company’s 2016 product line-up and a party with dancing continuing until late into the night. This was a big project for event manager and DJ Anthony Woodruffe who put in some 30 hours of preparation time, followed by 14 hours on site on the day itself, to ensure the whole thing ran smoothly.
A further truss structure was erected in front of the DJ booth and dance floor area, from which Anthony hung four ADJ Inno Spot Pro Pearl moving head fixtures. “We wanted to project GOBOs around the room at the event which was the main reason for using Inno Spot Pros”, explained Anthony. “I opted for the Pearl version to harmonize with the rest of the white decorations, tables and VOID Acoustics speaker system we hired for the event. The 80W LED was more than powerful enough for the size of the room without it being too bright. The color filters are vibrant and the DMX focusing is great at keeping the GOBOs looking sharp.” During the earlier part of the event Anthony used the Inno Color Beam 12s to project colored light onto the insulation boards hanging from the ceiling, at times adding in a little movement to prevent the atmosphere becoming stagnant. Meanwhile the Inno Spot Pro Pearls were directed at plain walls, projecting the custom GOBOs in Hunter’s corporate colors. The overall ambiance was further enhanced by twelve more ADJ Dotz Par fixtures used for up-lighting the venue walls. Each powered by a 36W RGB COB LED, these compact, but potent, fixtures are ideal for both washing wide areas and injecting powerful swathes of color across a surface thanks to the provided switchable 60- and 25-degree lenses. Later, when the music was turned up and the guests filled the dance floor, the moving head fixtures came to life. The Inno Color Beam 12s shot thick beams of colored light around the space while the Inno Spot Pro Pearls’ rotating GOBOs added even more energy. This impressive lightshow was further enhanced by spectacular laser projections from the team at LightArt Showlaser who Anthony brought in to provide the icing on the visual cake. To reduce cable runs around the expansive event space, further ADJ technology was utilized in the form of WiFLY Transceivers. These compact devices were used to wirelessly transmit the DMX control signal out from the DJ booth to the lighting units installed all around the room. This meant that all of the lighting could be synchronized while keeping the number of cables running around the venue to a minimum. The lighting production installed for the event by WooDz:Muzik wasn’t just confined to the main event space. The entrance corridor was also up-lit in Hunter International’s corporate colors, while the area was further enhanced by an ADJ H2O LED effect. This compact and simple to use unit projects a subtle, but constantly changing, flowing water effect that is perfect for adding interest to any plain wall, ceiling or floor. Thanks to the power and flexibility of the ADJ equipment used, the contributions from Void Rental Germany and LightArt Showlaser, and most of all the creative vision and hard work put in by Anthony, Hunter International’s new factory launch event was a resounding success. Considering this to be a landmark event for WooDz:Muzik in terms of the scale of its production, Anthony is looking forward to continuing to further this aspect of his business and we look forward to continuing to support him by supplying cutting-edge lighting tools at an affordable price!
