Looking Back At DJ Expo
Pure Lighting Excitement, lots of giveaways, new products and meeting old and new friends made this one of my best DJ Expos to date.

This year’s DJ Expo was a lot of fun. I think was somewhere around my 10th DJ Expo, and there was nothing boring about this year’s show! The show producers of DJ Expo, Testa Communications, didn’t disappoint. They offered a great variety of informative seminars and brought a lot of new, and familiar, faces through the doors.

After two very successful Pizzafest Customer Appreciation parties, we decided to mix things up to keep the ADJ excitement going at DJ Expo. First of all, we expanded our ADJ booth space, brought in more lighting fixtures, and polished up our in-booth and light show presentations.

Next, we offered a massive $20,000 giveaway full of lighting, audio and truss products. We called this the, ‘ADJ Pure Lighting Excitement Summer Giveaway’ where two lucky winners were given the ultimate $10,000 prize package; one winner on Tuesday and one winner on Wednesday during the show. Attendees anxiously filled out their entry tickets with a variety of ways to enter, including: watch the ADJ lightshow, listen to the booth presentation, post a photo of the booth or ‘booth selfie’ on your favorite social media site, and attend the ADJ sponsored seminar, ‘Moving Heads; Choosing the right fixtures for the job,’ presented by Arnoldo Offermann.

A big congratulations to Richard Zeno, of New York, for winning the $10,000 giveaway on Tuesday, and to Charles Fliciano, all the way from Hawaii, for winning the same giveaway on Wednesday of the show. And, thanks to our contestmaster, Sparky B for keeping the energy levels high, and the good times rolling, at the ADJ booth.

Not only did the giveaway cause excitement, but so did the super cool booth giveaways we offered exclusively at the show. On Tuesday, we gave away ADJ hats to the first 400 people that showed up to the booth. Then on Wednesday, we gave away 300 Accu Case F4 Par padded lighting bags. These were in addition to the massive summer giveaway. It was ADJ’s way of saying thank you to our loyal customers…and man, did those hats and bags go fast!

We debuted six new products at DJ Expo: Inno Pocket Spot, Inno Pocket Roll, Rotobeam 4, 5P Hex, Vpar Pak and VBar Pak. These items are discussed more in depth in a separate article in the August NewsWave. However, the most noteworthy new products were the Inno Pocket Scan and Inno Pocket Roll. The day before the show we debuted a product sneak peek video of these two mini scanner. The video was comical, and we hoped it would provide a memorable product launch. If you haven’t seen the video, click here:

We had Dr. Ray Goodlight, the doctor that delivered the Inno Pocket Twins, on the show floor the first day of the show introducing the twins to Expo attendees. This fun and unique experience to get a photo with the doctor was a great way to introduce these new scanners to fans of ADJ. Along with the Inno Pocket Scanners, the Inno Pocket Spot (both the black and the white versions) were of great interest to DJs and entertainers.

Needless to say, the time at DJ Expo flew by. No sooner was I checking into the hotel, but it seemed like I was checking out and heading home. I meet some cool new people at DJ Expo. And, it was great to see some old friends as well.

The fun doesn’t stop there. September will be a busy month for me. I’ll be at The Las Vegas DJ Show in Las Vegas, NV (Sept. 8-10) and at BPM/PRO in Birmingham, England (Sept. 13-15). If you are attending either one of these shows please stop by the ADJ booth and say hi!
