ADJ Debuts Six Brand New Products to Eager Onlookers at DJ Expo 2014

Earlier this month, DJ Expo, the USA’s longest-running DJ show, returned for its 24th year. The show took place at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J, from August 11th – 14th, with over two-dozen educational seminars and an exhibition hall jam-packed with the latest DJ-related gear.

Of course, we were there, with visitors fighting to get their names into the box ahead of our prize giveaway competition, which saw $20,000 worth of superb equipment presented to the lucky winners. Equally well-received were the cool ADJ caps which were given away on the stand – plenty of which could be seen across the exhibition, being proudly worn by visitors. It’s fair to say, however, that it wasn’t just our giveaways that brought the show to life, with ADJ products illuminating the exhibition hall in a whirlwind of vibrant color and movement, as we displayed six brand new products, and more, before the eager eyes of DJ Expo enthusiasts. Here’s what we had on show:

Inno Pocket Scan & Inno Pocket Roll
Our Inno Pocket Scan, a flat-mirrored scanner, and our Inno Pocket Roll, a barrel-mirrored scanner, are the latest additions to our Pocket series of affordable, compact fixtures, and much like we did for the originals, we’ve kept our focus on compact power. The Inno Pocket Scan and Inno Pocket Roll both pack a 12-watt LED source, making them incredibly bright considering their compact dimensions. Their size – and their low weight of just 6 lbs. – makes them easy to move and transport, great if you’re a mobile DJ or in a touring band. These latest Pocket products went down exceptionally well at the DJ Expo show, with visitors able to see how the narrow 14-degree beam angle and GOBO/color wheel, which combines 8 interesting GOBO patterns (plus open) with 8 striking colors (plus white), enables them to project bold patterns in bright, translucent colors.

The Inno Pocket Roll and Inno Pocket Scan offer a choice between three operational modes: DMX-Controlled (with 6 channel modes), Sound Active and Internal Show. Both fixtures are compatible with the ADJ IR Remote, allowing you to wirelessly control other features, such as strobing, color change, 0-100% dimming and sound active on/off, from a distance of 15-feet. These two scanners were the talk of the show. With its bright LED source and attractive price point, the Inno Pocket Scan and Roll are sure to start a ‘scanner revolution’ in mobile light shows!

VPar Pak & VBar Pak
At the Expo we also had on show our new dual par fixture package, the ADJ VPar Pak. This compact, low profile LED Par kit includes two VPar LED par cans, a soft carry bag and an RC2 wireless infrared remote. We’ve designed these LED par cans, which utilize five 4-watt quad 4-IN-1 (RGBW) LEDs, to be used as up lighting or stage lighting, with the units also featuring rubber feet for up lighting, a scissor yoke, and a practical 4-button DMX display. If you’re building up your lighting rig, or just want cool par cans to up light your truss or mount on a T-bar system, then this convenient package is ideal, with the par cans offering simple but effective color up lighting and washes, and the carry bag and remote offering unrivaled practicality and versatility.

Similar to our VPar Pak, the VBar Pak is a compact LED linear fixture kit that offers you two VBar LED bars, a soft carry case and an RC2 infrared wireless remote. The bar fixtures feature five of the same 4-watt quad 4-IN-1 (RBGW) LEDs, and also feature adjustable hanging brackets, rubber feet (for standing on the ground) and a 4-button DMX display. With a 40-degree beam angle and fifteen built-in color macros, the VBar units are ideal for linear up lighting and stage lighting and offer smooth RGB color mixing. With our VBar Pak also including the gig bag and RC2 IR remote, it’s another useful addition to your setup if you need to travel light and require bright linear up lighting.

5P HEX
Also making a well-received appearance at the show was our new 5P Hex, a versatile and forward-thinking LED par fixture with a source consisting of five 10-watt HEX, 6-IN-1 (RGBWA+UV) LEDs. This range of color offers you more possibilities, with 63 built-in color macros, smooth color mixing, and a 30-degree beam angle allowing you to get creative with your color and realize your vision. With these wider options for up lighting, you can adapt the 5P Hex to whatever event you’re working; with the UV being perfect for younger audiences, while the white and amber colors are ideal for weddings. Thanks to our new patent-pending body design, which makes the fixture more robust, the fixture can lie flat, with IEC and DMX in/out sockets being positioned on one side, allowing for a more practical up lighting solution. The dual yoke means the 5P Hex can also be hung or stood on the floor.

Rotobeam 4
Positioned high above our stand at DJ Expo – and arguably brought the most smiles to veteran DJ’s faces – was the ADJ Rotobeam 4: a classic helicopter lighting effect that we’ve given an LED upgrade. Powered by four 3-watt LEDs (one red, one green, one blue, one white) housed in four ‘jelly’ heads, each of which moves up and down, the Rotobeam 4 rotates continuously to offer an old-school classic effect but with the luminosity of modern LED technology. We’ve made this an easy-to-use, plug and play solution, which spins 360-degrees in continuous rotation and offers strobe effects too, with the fixture being ideal for providing color LED strobing from above, thanks to the hanging bracket, or across a dance-floor or stage when mounted to truss. Of course, using the UC-IR remote you can control strobing, color and speed, as well as on/off. Perfect for late-night clubs and bars, the Rotobeam 4 has no duty cycle, so you’re free to run it as long as you need – offering audiences pure lighting excitement as they party late into the night.

So, there you have it; another incredible year for us at DJ Expo, with our latest and greatest fixtures really being received well by visitors. The stand was buzzing for the duration of the show, with the team showing onlookers just how easily pure lighting excitement can be conjured up with ADJ! Bring on 2015.
