A Little Learning Goes a Long Way

Top speakers at ADJ LA deliver quality content at the first highly successful Nightclub Expo

Earlier this month saw the first of our two Nightclub Expo days get underway – in association with Elation Professional, Global Truss America, DuraTruss, and America Audio – giving the nightclub and bar industry an information-packed day of seminars and product demos. I am very pleased to say that attendance was high and the whole day went fabulous; it was great to see attendees getting involved and learning more about the industry in which we operate.

Taught by a number of industry professionals, seminars were informative and engaging, with these top designers and technicians offering their knowledge and opinion on various industry matters. So, if you missed out, here’s a little summary of the speakers we put on for our first Nightclub Expo in LA back on May 22nd.

Our awesome guest speaker, renovation expert and designer, Nancy Hadley, presented her ‘Beyond the Dancefloor: Creating a Total Experience’ seminar, holding the audience’s attention with her unrivaled knowledge surrounding the importance of design. Focussing on the five senses, she spoke enthusiastically about the importance of appealing to all of your customers’ senses when they come to your establishment – and how this can bring you success. A highly sought after name in the industry, Nancy was the featured designer for the first two seasons of Bar Rescue and has also appeared on many other TV shows, including Kitchen Nightmares, Extreme Home Makeover, Tabatha Salon Take Over and Tattoo Rescue.

We had a great Q&A session with Richie Worboys, the lighting designer at Avalon Hollywood, who spoke about how to create great scenes and shows which will appeal to your audiences. Richie also spoke to attendees about which factors they should be considering when putting on a show and ran through his techniques for organizing his controllers so that he can easily access thousands of scenes and ‘looks’.

The third speaker of the day was Ramiro Aguilera, a sales representative for Elation Professional, who delivered an interesting seminar on how technology is moving forward and how venue owners and lighting technicians can utilize video walls and lighting effects. Ramiro then went on to speak about preparation and the importance of choosing the right system; basing this decision on content, location, and the type of event.

Now, I noticed that all of the people in attendance engaged on a really personal level with much of the content in these stimulating talks, as well as with the speakers themselves (who all delivered excellent seminars). What the Nightclub Expo really gave was further insight into improving venues, tips for creating the perfect lightshow, and guidance towards exploring the potential of video and lighting integration. I also noticed many of the attendees making the most of the chance to network with other nightclub and venue owners (as well as us ADJ staff!) and to see some new ADJ lighting and audio products up close.

Whether you’re trying to get the most from what you already have - or you’re thinking of completely revamping your venue – this unique event really cannot be overlooked. What’s more, we have top speakers, ADJ gear to get hands on with, and a $200 gift certificate for every attendee. So, if you missed out this time around but can make it to Florida on June 11th we’ll be doing it all over again…
