ADJ Opens Its Doors!

Welcoming lighting users of all types, ADJ’s recent Open House events offered visitors an exclusive ‘first look’ at a variety of brand new products, while staff were on hand to educate and inform – asking, how can ADJ take your business to the next level?

Not so long ago, in early May, ADJ hosted two Open House events, one at our Los Angeles HQ and another at the Miami warehouse, giving visitors an exclusive viewing of the many products unveiled at Prolight + Sound 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany. ADJ expanded it’s Open House tour to the east coast with two stops in New York at both of I DJ NOW’s stores in Babylon and Queens, as well as a stop in New Jersey at SLD Lighting.

The aim of these Open House events was to let visitors see brand new products, such as the AV6 video wall, Vizi Beam 5RX moving head and distinctive Kaos centerpiece fixture, in action for the very first time, after they were so well-received at Prolight + Sound. The ADJ team were also on-hand to take questions, with many visitors asking how best to utilize these products in order to not only enhance their lightshows but also expand their businesses.

Years ago, operating under the American DJ name, many people assumed that ADJ only offered DJ products, but these days, with the brand name of ‘ADJ’, the company appeals to a much wider range of users, including installers for churches, clubs, bars, hotels and more. This fact was reflected in the demographic at all five events, which were attended by a positively varied mix of ADJ users – including dealers and a few DJs – but predominantly installers focused on nightclubs and churches.

Always trying to adapt and expand, this shift in the market is what led ADJ to put on these Open House events in the first place. Hosted on ADJ premises, and at ADJ dealers with large showrooms, these events were the perfect chance for the company to train its customers in using WiFLY, battery-powered and DMX fixtures, letting them get to grips with new concepts and showing them how such versatile solutions can help them expand their business and further their earning potential.

There was no better example of this than the AV6 video panels, which caused excitement for attendees at all Open House events. With the ADJ team on hand, visitors didn’t just have to settle for looking at the AV6, Kaos and Vizi Beam 5RX; they could try them out, ask questions and discover their potential for adding a production company aspect to their business. In recent times, many DJs have started to utilize the professional but affordable solutions offered by ADJ to become event organizers and lighting suppliers themselves.

In an environment less noisy and busy than that found at trade shows, visitors weren’t afraid to speak up and get the information they wanted from the team. They discovered how the AV6 is more compact than plasma screens but can be expanded and linked to others to create something bigger. They were impressed by the 6mm pixel pitch, which makes it ideal for showing footage at relatively close distances at weddings and corporate events. And DJs learned how they could use multiple screens as a façade behind which they could position their setup. Plus, the value for money the AV6 offers opens new doors for companies that previously couldn’t purchase LED Screens. All in all, thanks to the Open House format, visitors of all types found out just how versatile they could be with ADJ!

It wasn’t just the AV6 that caused a stir, either. Visitors had the chance to see the Vizi Beam 5RX, Kaos, Dotz Par 100, WiFLY EXR HEX5 IP and COB Cannon Wash in action, while workstations for Kling-Net and myDMX 2.0 were also well-attended. “What was great about the Open House events was the intimacy of them; lots of small group sessions and one-on-one talks between customers and staff proved fruitful, providing a situation where people were more likely to speak out and ask important questions,” explained Alfred Gonzales, national sales manager of ADJ USA. A key part of these events, this interaction between customers and ADJ staff is also of great benefit to the company; receiving useful feedback from those in attendance now means that ADJ can create new products that are better-suited to customers’ needs.

All in all, it seems that the Open House events in Los Angeles, Miami, New York and New Jersey went down incredibly well, with a large number of dealers, installers and DJs relishing the chance to get to know the latest ADJ products; picking them up, feeling them, trying them out. Especially ideal for those that don’t have time to attend trade shows, the events gave visitors the chance to stop-by and discover how ADJ’s adaptable, forward-thinking solutions can benefit them and their business, in the confines of an educational and technology-focused atmosphere.

“It was a pleasure to see so many ADJ customers – whether dealers, installers, LDs or DJs – getting involved with the brand and putting the latest and greatest ADJ products to the test,” admits Gonzales. However, for the team at ADJ, the Open House events also offered the perfect opportunity to get feedback from the people that matter most, enabling the company to keep supplying products that not only fulfil customers’ needs but also let them take their lighting displays – as well as their businesses – to the next level!
