ADJ Inspires Positive Change at WFX 2015

Giving pastors, technical directors and lighting designers from a range of church communities a chance to see how pure lighting excitement could enhance their events and services, ADJ demonstrated an array of ground-breaking new lighting solutions at this year’s WFX event in Nashville…

Well-established and now in its tenth year, the WFX (Worship Facilities Conference and Expo) takes place annually, with pastors, tech professionals, facilities managers, worship leaders and administrative staff from nearly 800 churches across the US gathering in a different city each year. Running from November 18-19, this year’s event took place in Nashville, TN, where visitors explored stands from a wide range of exhibitors inside the Nashville Music City Center.

Giving lighting users and other visitors a chance to check out moving heads, wash units, video panels and GOBO projectors from across its many ranges, ADJ’s booth stood out as one of the most visually pleasing booths, consistently busy throughout the event. Amongst those interested in seeing what the company’s budget-conscious lighting effects could bring to their churches were pastors, creative directors and lighting designers (both professional and voluntary), showing the suitability of ADJ products to wide range of users and applications.

“ADJ lighting fixtures are the perfect solution for houses of worship,” admits Alfred Gonzales, National Sales Manager for ADJ USA. “We offer a wide range of solutions from staging, to moving heads to uplighting with a wide variety of options and pricing. We can help outfit any size church on any budget!”

The stone-clad DuraTruss trussing on the ADJ stand worked incredibly well, displaying how wash effects and uplighting would look inside visitors’ respective houses of worship. The 12P Hex, for instance, showed just how effective uplighting and washes can be when hard-to-reach colors are generated and enhanced with UV. ADJ product specialists were also on-hand to explain how these UV effects are ideal for lighting the youth room and making the church more attractive to younger people.

Also on display at WFX were ADJ’s Vizi Beam 5RX and Vizi Beam 16RX moving heads, whose Philips lamps reassured visitors that they can certainly pack a punch! Ideal for use in church sanctuaries and on large stages, the 5RX is fitted with a Philips 5R lamp (equivalent to a 575W discharge fixture) and loaded with features, including frost, focus and an 8-facet prism. The fixture itself was mounted above the ADJ stand, enabling crowds to see how its variable GOBOs and separate color wheel combine to offer tight beams and wider washes in a range of vibrant colors. Meanwhile, having made its debut at LDI, ADJ’s biggest, most powerful moving head, the Vizi Hybrid 16RX, was also at WFX, impressing visitors with its high-power Philips 16R lamp, wide range of static and interchangeable GOBOs, and oppositely rotating dual-prism effects!

Visitors were also impressed by the ‘Pearl’ version of ADJ’s popular COB Cannon Wash, whose white casing makes it perfect for use in sanctuaries with white ceilings and décor, providing users with a lighting rig that easily blends in with the church environment. Fitted with a ultra-powerful 150W COB LED source, the COB Cannon Wash produces widespread washes in a range of hard-to-beat colors, with its RGBA LEDs allowing users to create atmospheric hues such as amber and gold. Visitors to WFX also got see just how versatile the COB Cannon Wash is, thanks to its super-wide 80-degree beam angle, which can be taken down to 50-degree or 40-degree using optional lenses, allowing users to create ambient lighting for any type of environment.

Offering a similarly adjustable beam angle, this time for an adaptable par solution, the Par Z4 was on display alongside the COB Cannon Wash, impressing lighting enthusiasts on the ADJ stand with its compact size, powerful 40W LED source and manual zoom, which allows both narrow 10-degree beams and far-reaching 60-degree washes to be generated. Representatives from ADJ also explained how the Par Z4 was ideal for any type of event and for use on ceilings of any height due to its compactness and adjustable beam spread.

Also proving popular throughout the event was the revolutionary AV6, ADJ’s first modular video panel. Creating vivid on-screen visuals, unique pixel-mapped effects and awesome video reproduction, this easily linkable panel wowed the crowds as they saw it working its magic on the ADJ stand. Also on display was the Encore Profile WW, an ellipsoidal fixture offering 100W of power, framing shutters, and DMX control, for a high-power wide-wash solution that can be controlled in-depth to bring immersive effects to any type of church event or service!

With such a varied range of new products on offer, it’s no surprise that the ADJ stand at WFX remained busy throughout the event, as lighting enthusiasts from a range of professional backgrounds consulted with staff and watched a number of these effects in action. Safe to say, visitors to the show got plenty out of it! And for ADJ, it was a chance to show pastors, volunteers and others involved with the church just how well-suited our products are to sanctuaries and other spaces for worship.

From the high-energy effects that help churches appeal to their youth members, to the powerful wash and par units that fill sanctuaries with ambient light and provide atmospheric uplighting during prayer, performances and talks, ADJ offers an array of adaptable, affordable and forward-thinking lighting solutions that meet the needs of the modern house of worship. Another successful WFX event just shows that pure lighting excitement isn’t limited to clubs, bars and parties, but that it can be created in unbelievable new ways that will appeal to churches of all shapes and sizes!
